Summary on Spiritism (PART II)

Using as a reference the summary on Spiritism made by Allan Kardec himself, we prepared this post for you, organized in the format of a Q&A. Here we continue with the second part of the summary on Spiritism, which contains the main teachings sent by superior Spirits to Allan Kardec. These teachings form the foundations of this doctrine, which put an end to death and brought us answers that until then, we did not know where to find.

Summary on Spiritism. The greatness of the Universe and our choices.

13 – In which bodies and planets do Spirits incarnate?

Among the different species of corporeal beings, God chose the human species for the incarnation of Spirits that reached a certain degree of development, giving them moral and intellectual superiority over the other species. It would be a mistake to believe that a Spirit can incarnate in the body of an animal.
The incarnated Spirits inhabit the different globes of the Universe. The non-incarnated do not occupy a determined and circumscribed region. They are everywhere in space and beside us, watching us and constantly nudging us. It’s an entire invisible population, moving around us.

14 – But is there life beyond Earth?

God populated the worlds with living beings, all of whom are marching towards the ultimate goal of Providence (perfection). Believing that intelligent life only exists on the planet we inhabit, with millions of similar planets in the universe, would be to doubt God’s wisdom, who does nothing without purpose. Each planet has a different evolutionary state, dwelling Spirits in tune with their vibration level, as we will see in the next question.

15 – So there are worlds of different evolutionary states in the universe?

Yes. In the universe, there are different categories of inhabited worlds. Below is a brief summary of each category:
– Primitive worlds: intended for the first incarnations of the human soul.
-Worlds of trial and atonement: where there is a predominance of evil.
-Regenerative Worlds: planets where souls who still have something to atone for can gain new strength, resting from the fatigue of the struggle.
– Happy worlds: where good overcomes evil.
-Divine worlds: dwellings of purified Spirits, where only good reigns.
The planets, as well as everything that exists in the universe, are also subject to the law of progress, being in constant evolution. They are born primitive and over time they migrate to more advanced evolutionary levels.
The Earth has already passed through its primitive period and is in the category of trial and atonement. We know that the Earth is preparing to begin the transition to regeneration. However, this process will still take a long time to be completed.

16- How does the communication between spirits and men work?

Spirits’ communications with men can be occult or ostensive.
The occult ones are verified by the good or bad influence they exert on us without our consent. It is up to our judgment to discern good from bad inspirations.
Ostensive communications take place through writing, speaking or other material manifestations, almost always through people endowed with mediumship who serve as instruments.

17- Do Spirits manifest spontaneously or do they need to be evoked?

Both. Spirits can manifest spontaneously or through evocation.
All Spirits can be evoked: those who animated heinous men, like those of the most illustrious characters, in whatever time they lived.
We can also communicate with the Spirits of our relatives, friends, or even enemies. We can obtain from them, by written or verbal messages, advice or information about their present situation in the afterlife, what they think about us, as well as the revelations they are allowed to make to us.
It is important to mention that there may be situations in which, even when being evoked, the Spirit does not yet have the conditions or authorization to communicate, and it is necessary for the person who wishes to receive a message to wait for a more favorable moment.

18 – Can the environment influence communication with Spirits?

For sure! Spirits are attracted because of the sympathy inspired by the moral nature of the environment that evokes them. Superior Spirits take pleasure in serious meetings, where love and a sincere desire to learn prevail on the part of those who participate. Their presence keeps away inferior Spirits who, conversely, find access and can interact with freedom among frivolous people, or those impelled solely by curiosity, or where there are bad instincts. Far from obtaining good advice or useful information, one should only expect frivolities, lies, jokes in bad taste or mystifications from them, since they often take venerable names in order to deceive people.

19 – How to distinguish between good and bad Spirits?

Distinguishing between good and bad Spirits is extremely easy.
Superior Spirits constantly use dignified, noble language, bearing the highest morality, free from any inferior passion. The purest wisdom is obtained from them through their advice, which always works towards our improvement and the good of Humanity.
Inferior Spirits, on the contrary, use inconsequential language, are often trivial and even rude. Though sometimes they say something good and true, much more often they say lies and nonsense, out of malice or ignorance. They mock the credulity of men and amuse themselves at the expense of those who interrogate them, flattering their vanity, feeding their desires with false hopes.
In summary, serious communications, in the broadest sense of the term, are only given in serious meetings, where intimate communion of thoughts reigns, with a view to good.

20- How could we summarize the moral of superior Spirits?

The moral of superior Spirits could be summarized, like that of Jesus, in this gospel passage: do to others what we would want others to do to us – that is, do good and not evil. In this principle, mankind finds a universal rule by which to proceed, even for his smallest actions.

21- What do superior Spirits teach us?

Superior Spirits teach us that selfishness, pride, sensuality are passions that bring us closer to animal nature, holding us into the physical world. That a man, already in this world, who detaches himself from matter, not clinging to worldly futilities and loving his neighbor, approaches the spiritual nature. That each one of us must make ourselves useful, according to the faculties and means that God has placed in our hands to test us. That the strong and the powerful owe support and protection to the weakest, because those who abuse strength and power to oppress their fellow man transgress the Law of God.

22- Is it possible to hide what we did on Earth when we return to the spirit world?

Superior Spirits report that, in the spirit world, nothing is hidden. Our existence is an open book. The hypocrites will be unmasked. All our good and bad deeds will be accounted for. We will be left with a “debt” with all those who we may have treated badly, requiring new incarnations for eventual reparation. Finally, the superior Spirits tell us that the states of inferiority and superiority of the Spirits – in the spirit world – correspond to pains and joys unknown on Earth.
